UKCRIC Limited is putting together a prospectus on courses which use systems thinking to improve and create buildings, infrastructure, and human-made constructions.
The initial version of the prospectus will be available in October 2025 for people looking for a variety of types of courses from MOOCs (massive open online courses) to technical training, university learning and executive development. People in traditional fields such as design, planning, construction and engineering will find it useful as will those in environment studies, geography, and computer science, to name just a few!
The prospectus is inspired by the recent launch of the UKCRIC-supported report Connect to Change: Systems Thinking in the Built Environment and the absence of a UK institution on systems thinking, which has led to fragmentation of learning in this critical emerging discipline.
The first iteration of the prospectus will identify and classify courses already available, helping learners to find an appropriate course. Future work will identify skills gaps and encourage providers to offer new courses where demand exists.
