In this webinar, Dr. Fatma Seyma Keskin will present her ongoing research focused on the sustainable transformation of vulnerable building stocks, particularly in the aftermath of disasters such as earthquakes. The talk will explore the critical importance of disaster resilience in sustainability efforts, examining both structural resilience of buildings and their sustainable impact post-disaster. Dr. Keskin will discuss innovative approaches to utilizing construction demolition waste materials, which not only contribute to reducing urban pollution but also support circular solutions in urban regeneration. Her research aims to advance net-zero targets by integrating practical solutions that address local needs and challenges in the built environment.
Short Bio:
Dr. Fatma Seyma Keskin is a full-time lecturer in the Architecture Department at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, specializing in structures and building materials. She earned her PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Birmingham and has conducted postdoctoral research on the C-DICE project at Cranfield University. Her expertise includes designing and analyzing buildings for urban transformation, with a focus on enhancing sustainability and resilience. Fatma’s current research involves improving the performance of buildings through sustainable practices and circular solutions, particularly in response to disaster impacts.
