Judith Owigar Biography
Judith believes that exposure, education, and use of technology can increase the quality of life and as such change the world. As a social entrepreneur, she uses technology as a catalyst for positive change. This is what led her to co-found AkiraChix an organization whose vision is to nurture generations of women who use technology to develop innovations and solutions for Africa. Her passion to increase female social capital in the African Tech ecosystem has helped propel the entry of many young women, girls, and now children, into careers in Science Technology Engineering and Math.
It is this same drive that led her to found Juakali Workforce to address the challenge of growing youth unemployment and improve the livelihoods of skilled manual labourers in Kenya. She is currently looking for partners who share our vision for an equitable future for blue-collar workers. If you would like to know more, do reach out.
Over the years, she has shared her work through various speaking engagements. From the renowned Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit where she shared the stage with Former US President Barack Obama and President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya. She is an East African Acumen fellow and an International Focus fellow.
