Jennifer Knight is the Centre for Doctoral Training Manager for EPSRC-funded CDTs in Sustainable Infrastructure Systems and Sustainable Infrastructure for Cities within Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton. She has a keen interest in enabling postgraduate students to develop their skills to become future engineers with technical interdisciplinary skills and an understanding of how to make our cities productive, sustainable, resilient and healthy places for people to live.
Jennifer joined the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences in June 2014. She worked in the Graduate School team until March 2020. Alongside student administration she was responsible for managing the postgraduate induction, training and events programme for the Faculty. She is keen to work with multi-disciplinary research teams and to develop relationships between researchers and communicators to enable creative projects and captivating public engagement.
Jennifer is also the UKCRIC Skills Manager - working with Sergio Cavalaro and William Powrie on a project to develop the UKCRIC Skills Agenda including the creation of the UKCRIC Doctoral Skills Network. This is funded by a UKCRIC project grant. Her creativity, project management and organisational skills will be employed to create a place to meet and exchange ideas for the diverse community of researchers within the UKCRIC institutions.
