Skills and Training Network activities and events

Aims of the Skills and Training Network:

  • Offer development opportunities to doctoral researchers based in UKCRIC institutions focusing on research in infrastructures and cities
  • Create a vibrant doctoral community and promote collaborations and ideas exchange
  • Support the development of research-minded leaders that can address national and international priorities
  • Coalesce the collective expertise and capabilities of the UKCRIC universities and partners in support of the activities of the doctoral network

Public Engagement

Engaging with the public including policy makers, academics, industry partners including local business and enterprise, school children and students is an important way to disseminate research findings to the world outside of academia. The Skills and Training Network will support public engagement training and attendance at events to promote UKCRIC and our partner institutions.

Events

The UKCRIC Skills and Training Network is a collaborative project and we encourage members to suggest training and development ideas that would benefit others in the network.

Suggestions include:

  • Seminars lead by industry and academic researchers on key current topics (online or in person)
  • Networking events, with industry partners, universities, policy makers
  • UKCRIC Laboratory exchange programme including collaborative short-term research projects
  • Sandpit projects with industry partners
  • UKCRIC Doctoral Skills Network conference
